Factors to consider when looking for an ITIL ITSM solution:

  • Look for a feature set that is manageable with existing resources

  • Establish the full costs including additional modules, maintenance, training and consultancy

  • Investigate the effort and resources required to update and upgrade the system; consider who will have to pay for this

  • Check your requirements for integration with existing data sources and business applications

  • Consider how long it will take to implement a software package and the impact on service levels to the business

  • Establish the training requirements

  • Establish if the scope of your support function extends beyond IT, for example, Facilities Management and other consolidated service desk disciplines

  • Consider your future requirements and choose a product feature set that will meet future demands on the IT function.

  • Is there a requirement to align business processes utilising standards such as the ITIL framework
