Changing the look and feel of the Self Service Portal is done with the use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). These are basically templates which contain property information related to HTML elements within a web page and can be used to determine how each element appears when rendered on a users screen.
There is a selection of alternative CSS files which are installed with the Self Service Portal ready for use. These are titled:
· Blue
· Carbon
· Brown
· Orange
· Pink
· Striped
Obviously; it would not be possible to include a CSS file with the product which matched your exact requirements and so it is possible to create your own templates based on your individual requirements. Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS would be beneficial when creating your own CSS however; even novice users should be able to make simple colour and font changes to elements by using a standard text-editing program. Once a new CSS file has been configured, it should be published to the Self Service Portals application directory where it can be assigned to the required Customer Settings Group(s).
When creating a new CSS; it is recommended that one of the default templates is used as a starting point. This will ensure that each required element is present prior to customisation and will allow you to retain the structure of the original file. Any customised images used when creating a new CSS should be published to the Self Service Portals application directory prior to use and it is also recommended that a logical directory structure is used when referencing such images.
